music school

The Kleve-Kellen music school (known as R&G until the end of 2015) has been offering a wide-ranging teaching program for children, young people and adults since May 1999. This includes instrumental and singing lessons (individual and group lessons), theory subjects such as ear training, harmony and rhythm, band lessons and jazz choir as well as advanced training for music teachers at general education schools.
The 400m2 area includes:
1 office (administration, registration, etc.)
11 classrooms
the event hall with stage, lighting system and café area
the archive for teaching materials such as sheet music, textbooks, play-along CDs, MuKls lecturers' own teaching materials
The spacious play area (carpet) for children
The office is open Monday to Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Here, interested parties can find out more about the lessons or arrange a free trial lesson.
since 1999
The school has grown continuously since it opened in May 1999. Initially, the school had 70 students and eight lecturers. After the move from Gasthausstrasse to Emmericher Strasse in September 2000, the number had risen to 180 students and twelve lecturers, and today over 400 students are taught by 20 lecturers and guest lecturers. Activities outside of the school have also expanded in line with the space available: the 100m2 hall regularly hosts student concerts, lecturer concerts, lectures, workshops and concerts by nationally known musicians, as well as other cultural events such as art exhibitions (the entire building and the outdoor areas are used for these).

lecturers
Most of the teachers at the Kleve-Kellen music school have studied at the jazz/pop departments of Dutch and German music academies - several of them even graduated with distinction! The teachers are therefore not only up to date in terms of playing, but also in terms of pedagogy and have plenty of teaching experience.
Marc Küsters has had contacts with the Moyland recording studio for many years, which means that special subjects such as live sound and recording technology can be offered. Participants in a band coaching course (including external bands) can book a demo CD recording at a reasonable price. This allows them to gain experience in a modern recording studio with digital recording technology under supervision.

concept
The school concept aims to motivate students to make music seriously, which goes beyond the "fun factor" and leads to an engagement with all areas of music (see course content/learning objectives). Many students make use of the possibility of combining subjects. In addition to the main subject, young people and adults take theory subjects and combo lessons to prepare for a career as a musician or for the entrance exam to study at a state music college.
Through its involvement in the “Culture Table” of the Klever district’s cultural workers, MuKl is closely linked to the activities of, for example, Cinque (cabaret), the organization of the city’s classical concerts, the film forum, the cultural office, the adult education center, the XOX Theater, the Kurhaus Museum and the “Theater im Fluss”.
